If we could get a rupee for every time we got asked this question, we could probably have been set for the rest of our lives. So why not we start with clearing this question for everyone’s benefit.

Our journey started with television transmission antennas. In the mid 70’s we undertook a technologically challenging project to make television transmission antennas for the Department of Space, Government of India. The performance of our antennas demanded by NASAexceeded their requirements, NASA being the nodal agency since the satellite was loaned to India. NASA representatives in India were quite shocked & surprised to see a ‘developing nation’ achieve this. However due to the politics that goes on in the space domain, Department of Space had to shut down this project and we were left with a whole lot of experience and no money & a certain product we named Guardall – 1. During the course of installation of these antennas on 100mtr towers we felt & realized the need of Fall Protection for our staff. Hence came into being the first Vertical Fall Arrest System on Rigid Rail in 1975 – the very first fall protection system of India. At a time when there were no helmets and harnesses available in India, we had to get our own harness developed for this application.

After the modest success of this product we realized that different work at height situations require different products. Hence came into being the first retractable fall arrest block of the country – Retro-Guard in 1985. About during this time we also developed an Emergency Escape Device for oil rigs. This small basket of products carried us for the next few years in the very nascent days of India’s safety market. We then also developed a few other products specific to the oil & gas drilling application.

In 1993 we manufactured & installed 100 horizontal lifelines forthe British American Tobacco Company (BAT) plant in South India. As with any entrepreneurial journey optimism keeps you motivated amidst the push & pulls of life. Such projects kept us motivated to believe the India’s fall protection market was growing.

However this nascent stage of the Indian fall protection market stayed on for another 10 years. They say right product at the right time at the right price. We definitely didn’t get our timing right. Hence from 1979 to 2003/04 (25 years!) when the fall protection market started opening up we were neck deep in the Oil & Gas work. We were doing fall protection projects but only for a select few clients who valued their employees’ safety. Hence we missed the initial few years of the fall protection growth when global safety conscious industries started coming into India.

So that’s that then. As of today we have clawed our way back into the fall protection market and are proudly working with the biggest names of Indian industries. We customize their fall protection needs to suit complicated sites, we manufacture a whole range of fall protection equipments, emergency escape devices, confined space equipments, anchorages and so on.

All our products are CE certified and we plan to add a whole lot of new products to our basket in the coming months!
